"And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities. Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me."
What a powerful testimony that the Prophet Alma had about the great mission that our dear Savior came to do. To suffer for all of the pains, temptations, sicknesses. I have thought many times if only someone else knew what I was going through. If only I had someone to talk to about this, and thats exactly why Christ went through those things, is so that we would never be alone! That when life gets to hard to stand on our own and everything we try by ourselves isn't working, thats when we can turn to him for help. His bowels truly are filled with mercy so Christ can indeed give succor to His people. What the word succor means is to run to and give aid. Who better to come to us and give us aid that the very man that was willing to suffer for all of the same things we go through each day. But we must open the dooor to Him and let Him in. Jesus Christ and our Heavenly father love us far more that we could possibly comprehend. Thats one of the best parts about what Christ did for us is we don't have to know how He did it, just know that He did and do all you can to make sure that suffering was not in vain. Christ lives and loves us all very much, if He didn't he wouldn't have done this for us. I know these things to be true and add my own testimony to it in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
